Several disturbances will move across Lower Michigan over the next few days. Each one will bring winter weather to the region. The first one will likely bring mixed precipitation to part of Lower Michigan. The Grand Rapids National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain and sleet for the West Michigan counties along and north of I-96 and south of a line that stretches from Pentwater to Saginaw Bay. The advisory is in effect from 7 PM Thursday until 1 PM Friday. Snow is likely for the northern most counties and mainly rain for the counties south of I-96. A mixture of freezing rain and sleet will likely develop Thursday evening coating trees and power lines with a thin coating of ice. Some power outages are possible. Travel could be tricky for the Friday morning commute.
An even stronger storm will push across Michigan Saturday night into Sunday. Once again there is the threat for more sleet and freezing rain.
