"Freelancer" to include Robert De Niro and 50 Cent

He may not be part of G-g-g-g-g-g-unit, but he has gangster credentials all his own. The star of such classic films Taxi Driver and Goodfellas is joining 50 Cent to come into town and star in the thriller "Freelancer", which is scheduled to shoot April 18. The schedule calls for four weeks, which will be handled by Jessey Terreo, who has handled Curtis Jackson (real name of 50 Cent) in music videos before, so he should have a good idea on how to corral the rambunctious rapper.

The script, written by L. Phillipe Casseus for Grindhouse Entertainment (a part of Lionsgate films), sees a fan who falls in with a group of vigilante officers once he joins the force, after his father (himself a cop) is killed. Sounds like it has all the ingredients for a good hard-boiled cop film. And thankfully no wacky mismatched partners this time.

Though previously slated for production in Michigan, it's now popped up on our radar. (Man, that poor state just can't catch a break, can they?) The two celebs join a long list of heavy-hitters who are coming to town for projects, in the company of personalities Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage, and Bruce Willis.
