In February 2013 Jennifer Cruz, the Little Rock Gun Rights Examiner for Examiner.com, started a series of articles about guns being used in self-defense. The series was unofficially called 30 Days of Guns Saving Lives and it featured one story each day where someone’s life was saved because they were armed. The series gained more attention than she ever expected.
She received an overwhelming response in the form of emails, private messages, and comments on the articles, as well as her Facebook page. The responses varied, but the general theme was readers simply thanking her for doing the series and expressing how important they felt it was. In addition, readers also shared their own stories of self-defense and firearms.
Due to the response from her readers, Jennifer has decided that she will continue the series after 30 days. In fact, it will become an ongoing column.
However, as most gun rights advocates know, these stories rarely, if ever, make mainstream media. In fact, they rarely make local news either. These are the stories that don’t attract attention from the media. These are the stories that gun-control advocates do not want told.
Jennifer is reaching out to citizens everywhere. She is seeking these stories of self-defense and firearms so that she may publish them. If you have a story to share, please contact her via Facebook or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
