Freedom, part 3

Being the More You are

It is important to know that life is first of all a spiritual process and not a process of getting our physical circumstances to conform to what makes us most physically comfortable and happy, which is like a carpenter trying to give away his tools because he does not know who he is. Life is a process of getting to know who we are in bigger and bigger ways. So why would we attempt to get rid of the tools that help us to let go of our ideas of “smallness”? We have to face “smallness” in all of its various expressions and see through the lie of it in order to truly be free of it. True freedom is not found in making our “tools” go away, but in putting them to the greatest use until they are no longer needed.

“Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38)

We have been told a lie about freedom – that freedom means our lower will reigns supreme. Yet Mother Mary showed us the higher way, the way of being Mother. It is the Mother within us that is obedient to the Father’s Will, knowing that it is Her own. It is the Mother who teaches us discipline so that we can rise above lower desires. It is the Light of the Mother that rises within us to heal and comfort our souls so that we can grow into more. And it is the Mother who brings us the exact and perfect experiences that we need in order to grow. If we humbly accept them and stick with them instead of rejecting them in favor of satisfying our lower will, we can achieve a breakthrough in having more freedom to be who we are in God. Our Divine Mother loves us and desires the absolute best and highest for us.

A large part of our unhappiness in feeling not free is due to our tendency to judge our outer circumstances and those of other people from a physical standpoint instead of from the standpoint of a higher spiritual agenda beyond the physical circumstances, from which we can see that the physical circumstances do not define us or anyone else, but that they are intended to be opportunities to go beyond them, to see and choose more. God wills that we have every opportunity to choose more – to see that we are not “above it all” in terms of pride in thinking that we do not need to face those experiences, but to see that we are “above it all” by facing them, seeing through them and rising above them by being who we are in God in the midst of them – by being Mother, one with Father.

Doesn’t this sound like expansion into a Greater Self? It is. And this Greater Self has a Greater Will. This Greater Self, our own Higher Self, has a will that we be More God. Therefore, if we are obedient to this will, if we follow it faithfully – if we love God’s Will with all of our hearts, souls and minds, then we will be led with certainty - through discipline, dependency on God alone and obedience, to our Greatest Freedom, and we will then know that true freedom is the victory of Being the More You are!

And Mary said, My soul does magnify the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty has done to me great things; and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.
He has showed strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he has sent empty away.

(Luke 1:46-53)
