You may have attended an Open House before but September 17th is your chance to check out an "Open Kennel". Freedom Guide Dogs will be hosting their annual Open Kennel on Saturday, September 17th from noon until 4 pm in Cassville, NY.
The Open Kennel gives you an opportunity to check out the kennel facilities. You can see where puppies are whelped and given their start in life as well as the training set up for the older dogs. Be sure to find the training obstacle course!
The entire dog set up is state of the art with heated floors and barn curtain windows for good ventilation. The dogs have indoor/outdoor runs and individual drinking fountains! The puppy enrichment center has all those physical amenities plus plenty of ways to stimulate the mental development of the future guide dogs.
Clients of Freedom Guide Dogs with trained dogs plus puppy raisers with the hopefuls for the future will be in attendance. Enjoy some great free refreshments and look at the hoodies and t shirts for sale that would make excellent holiday gifts.
While you are visiting think about becoming a member of the 365 Club. Freedom Guide Dogs hopes to surpass their previous accomplishment of 29 successful dog placements in one year. But it takes funding to raise and train a guide dog. Just one dollar a day could sponsor a guide dog. Make your morning coffee instead of hitting a drive through window or brown bag it one day a week to save up your lunch money expenses. If a dollar a day seems overwhelming, talk fellow workers into joining with you. You would be helping out a local organization and doing something beneficial for both people and dogs.
