Replay Technologies Inc. is banking on it's "freeD" technology and so far, the returns are all positive.
Debuting on the NBC Sunday Night Football broadcast between the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, the "freeD" replay system gave viewers "Watch As You Want" technology that was branded as "NBCeeIt360."
The reviews were nothing but positive as the game averaged 25.4 million viewers to rank as primetime television’s most-watched show for the week of Sept. 2-8.
“I am very excited we presented freeD to millions of NFL viewers with Sunday Night Football,” said Replay Technologies CEO, Oren Haimovitch-Yogev. “The feedback we received was outstanding. freeD is the most innovative way to watch and understand this sophisticated game, and I am sure people will love it more and more with every game."
Being free, this appears to be encouraging viewers to give it a try.
They will have two more chances to try it out this football season.
It will be tried on the Notre Dame vs. Arizona State on Oct. 5 and the Washington Redskins at Dallas Cowboys contest on Oct. 13. There is also a special bonus for Cowboys fans, as fans attending Cowboys games at AT&T Stadium will have access to “freeD” replays on the giant scoreboard in the stadium. They won't miss any of the action.
The “freeD” technology uses 24 high-speed cameras that are carefully placed throughout the stadium to show never-before-seen viewing angles from the game.
Cameras will capture every angle of the red zone and can swivel to capture 360 degree footage.
While this technology is now in place and working in Dallas, other stadiums are lining up to get fitted and give it a try.
Yankee Stadium will be the next to showcase this innovative technology that enhances the way we watch sports.
