Earlier today, Xbox LIVE's Major Nelson announced on his blog that there will be a free Xbox LIVE Gold weekend starting tomorrow morning (April 19th) at 10:00 A.M. Eastern and running through 1:00 P.M. Eastern on Monday, April 22nd. The Untied States, Canada, Latin America, and Japan will all benefit from the free Gold weekend. Sorry gamers in the UK, you'll have to sit this one out.

Gamers will be able to play online multiplayer during this time period but they won't be able to get earlier access to demos or the Deal of the Week discounts reserved exclusively for Gold members.

A few things are required to participate. First of all, you will need an internet connection (obviously). Secondly, you need to currently have registered a free Silver account. If you don't even have one of those yet, it only takes a couple of moments to one set up.

Major Nelson also mentioned in his post that Call of Duty: Black Ops II will apparently be having a double weapon XP event for a limited time this weekend. Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 3 will also be giving out double XP.
