Pikes Peak Writers are offering several free writing events coming up in the weeks ahead that southern Colorado writers won’t want to miss. Pikes Peak Writers’ events are packed with useful information about all aspects of writing, from craft to marketing, presented by knowledgeable, talented writing professionals. Best of all, they’re free and open to the public.
• Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Colorado Springs native, published author and Vice President of Pikes Peak Writers, Jaxine Daniels will present the January Write Brain Session: Against the Clock, focused on starting this year off writing with increased productivity. The session will be held in the Carnegie Room at the Penrose Library, at 20 North Cascade Avenue. After 6:00 p.m., parking meters on the street and in the lot are free. Write Brain Sessions are held regularly, on the third Tuesday of each month.
• Saturday, February 8, 2014 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Pike’s Peak Writers will offer an exciting half-day writing event, Write Your Heart Out at the Colorado Springs Marriot, at 5580 Tech Center Drive. The event will feature talented presenters, including author and freelancer DeAnna Knippling; Colorado low-calorie cookbook and fiction author, Becky Clark; Colorado author and inspirational speaker, Aaron Michael Richey; and Colorado Springs playwright and theater critique, Todd Wallinger. • Tuesday, February 18, 2014, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the February Write Brain Session: Sex is not a Four Letter Word focuses on breaking down the walls of taboo to create more complex characters. The session will be presented by Lisa Renee Jones in the Adult/Children’s Meeting Room at the Penrose Library, located at 20 North Cascade Avenue. Learn to write sex into your story in the proper places and amounts, and sexuality into your characters for more depth.
• Monday, February 27, 2004 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the February Writer’s Night will be held in the principal’s office of the Ivywild school at 1604 South Cascade Avenue. Writer’s Night is an open meeting about various writing topics and guided by the participants. They are held on the fourth Monday of each month and, like all of these great PPW events, it is open to the public and there is no cost.
