Free Winter Weekdays at the Art Institute of Chicago

This is a great time to visit the Art Institute of Chicago if you want to duck the freezing cold and snowy weather, enjoy some pretty pictures, and do it for nothing. Free Winter Weekdays at the Art Institute of Chicago runs through February 12, 2014 and admission is free to Illinois residents every weekday—all day long.

Visitors to the Art Institute of Chicago using Tripadvisor ranked it as the no. 1 favorite museum in the United States in 2013. The AIC was originally conceived by the commercial movers and shakers in the Chicago of the 19th century who wanted the city to stand as more than just a gritty hub for livestock and other industries, and it appears their ambition has certainly paid off.

The museum has paintings, paperweights, photos, etchings, sculpture and fun projects for kids among just some of the things to see and do for an hour or half a day. It's sure to warm you up inside and out.
