There's plenty to see and do for video gamers at Comic-Con, even without a badge

San Diego Comic-Con is set to begin this week, and well over 100,000 attendees will gather once again to celebrate the world of comics, film, television, video gaming, and everything in between.

Even if you missed out on purchasing tickets to the convention, you should still make the trek to San Diego because there is still plenty of fun to be had. Here are some great offsite video game-related happenings you can take part in even without a Comic-Con badge:

The Assassin’s Creed Experience

Last year, Ubisoft brought an actual ship to Comic-Con to celebrate Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. This year, fans will get to live out their dreams as an assassin with a huge parkour course. The course is comprised of various challenges to traverse. Judging from the concept drawings of the course, it looks a lot like an American Ninja Warrior course, with a few similar obstacles.

The most daunting part of the course is the final challenge – a 25-foot leap of faith! Completing the course will earn participants an exclusive shirt, and the opportunity to check out the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Unity. While you’re there, you won’t want to miss the Guillotine Assassination Show.

The Assassin’s Creed Experience is completely free (no Comic-Con badge required), and will be located at the corner of K Street and Fifth Avenue, across the street from the Convention Center.

Watch the video preview of the course, and get more details at Ubisoft's website.

Nintendo Gaming Lounge

Another fantastic free destination you’ll want to head to is the Nintendo Gaming Lounge, which will be located on the first floor of the Marriott Marquis & Marina hotel.

Fans will be able to get their hands-on with a slew of 3DS and Wii U games, and check out a Super Smash Bros. (3DS) tournament.

Here’s the list of the playable games:

Nintendo 3DS

Super Smash Bros.
Pokémon Art Academy
Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal
Shovel Knight
Siesta Fiesta

Wii U

Super Smash Bros.
Hyrule Warriors
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Yoshi’s Woolly World
Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric
Just Dance 2015

Disney Infinity Pop-Up Shop

Located at 343 4th Ave. (between J & K streets), the Disney Infinity Pop-Up Shop will be open to the public between 5pm and 10pm each day, giving fans hands-on time with Disney Infinity’s new modes. There are some additional surprises, giveaways, and special guest appearances in store as well.

Check out the Disney Infinity site for additional info.

Square Enix Arcade Showcase

On Friday and Saturday (July 25-26) from 11:00 am - 2:00 am Square Enix and Deep Silver will be hosting an Arcade-style public showcase at Whiskey Girl (702 5th Avenue) in San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter.

Fans will be able to check out the upcoming games, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and team-based vampire vs. human online game Nosgoth, as well as mobile titles Hitman: Sniper and Hitman GO. Additionally, you’ll be able to preview Homefront, Escape Dead Island, Metro Redux and Sacred 3.

Edit: Sorry, folks - the Xbox Gaming Lounge requires a Comic-Con badge for admittance.
