Free vaccine lecture for horse lovers

On February 17th, this coming Sunday, Dr. John Cooley of Elite Equine in Marcy, NY will be speaking at Jack's Turf Goods in Vernon, NY. The Power Point presentation will start at 3 p.m. The presentation will cover spring vaccinations for your horse - covering what vaccines make sense for which horses and which vaccines are required by NY State laws.

It is important to customize veterinary care for each horse. Your show horses will need more coverage than a horse who is retiring out in your back pasture. Dr. Cooley will cover those options and talk about what you need to do to have your horse up and ready for the start of show season.

Along with vaccines, your horse will need to be up to date on his Coggins testing for EIA or Equine Infectious Anemia. . Consider setting up a deworming program. Remember that some horses may require a dental exam - older horses may need teeth floated and young horses may need floating or extraction of wolf teeth.
