According to a Mar. 19 report in the “All App News”, Apple has just introduced a software update for Apple TV.
What's big about this update isn't the behind the scenes security bug fixes but rather the totally redesigned “Hulu Plus” user interface (UI).
Now when you tap “Hulu Plus” from the main menu, you see categories across the top of the screen, similar to the buttons along the top of iTunes. Categories include: TV, Movies, Kids, Latino, Queue Search and Settings. Just click inside a content category to see what's new.
Under this row on the first “Hulu Plus” screen is another new feature called “Shows You Watch”. This row of icons makes it easy to navigate to your favorite show. Just use your Apple TV remote to highlight a show's icon and click Play. The latest episode of your show will immediately begin playing.
How cool is that!
To get the free Apple TV update, select Settings and then go to General and Update Software. (This is the same path that you use to update your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Gotta love this consistency!)
“Hulu Plus” offers current episodes from more than 235 current television series, but you'll need a subscription to watch them. The cost of a “Hulu Plus” subscription is $7.99 a month after a 7 day free trial.
We'll be back next time with more news and free apps for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch!
