A 1987 Madison Square Garden show by U2 and a 1970 show by the Byrds at Fillmore West are available as free downloads for members this week at Concert Vault, a spokesman told Vintage Rock 'n' Roll Examiner Dec. 30.

The U2 concert, a soundboard tape recorded Sept. 28, 1987, comes from the first of a two-night stand at Madison Square Garden on the Joshua Tree Tour. Songs include “Where the Streets Have No Name,” “I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For,” “The Unforgettable Fire,” “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “Pride (In the Name of Love).” The concert will be available Wednesday through Friday.

The Byrds concert, a late show set from Jan. 4, 1970 when the group headlined a bill with Fleetwood Mac and John Hammond, features a lineup of Roger McGuinn on guitar, Clarence White on guitar, Skip Battin on bass and Gene Parsons on drums when the group was touring to promote their “Easy Rider” album. Songs include “I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better,” “This Wheel's on Fire,” “So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star,” “Turn Turn Turn,” “Eight Miles High,” “Mr. Tambourine Man” and covers of “Positively Fourth Street” and “Roll Over Beethoven.” The show will be available Saturday through Jan. 4.

The free downloads are available only to Concert Vault members. Information on becoming a member is here.
