You may not have heard of him, but Galileo Chini (1873–1956) was a decorator, designer, painter, and potter who lived in Bangkok from 1911 to 1913 and created frescos for the palace. He was a prominent member of the Italian Art Nouveau movement and was inspired by early tin-glazed earthenware, the work of oriental potters, and paintings by Gustav Klimt. Mr. Chini specialized in stoneware vases decorated in rich colors and has been an inspiration for many artists who admire his work.
In order to honor his legacy, a memorable evening will take place with a special presentation of four decorative mosaics by Thai artist, Maitree Siriboon, who is a master of Casato jewelry. Gastronomic delicacies will also be inspired by Galileo Chini and prepared by Rossini's gifted Chef, Paride Noviello for guests in attendance. Be sure not to miss this tribute event for Galileo Chini which will be held at Rossini’s in the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit beginning at 18:00 hours. For more information, please call 02 6498640-44.
