Free trees in Orange County on February 11, 2012

Orange County, FL residents can get two free trees on Saturday to plant in their landscapes. Trees are distributed by the local Cooperative Extension Service on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is a great way to beautify and enhance the value of your property, and trees help modify the microclimate around your home. A leafy overhead canopy retains heat in the winter, helping to protect tender landscape vegetation. In the summer, protection from the sun helps reduce your home cooling costs.

Orange County residents who want to participate need to register upon arrival and provide
proof of Orange County residency, such as a driver's license, photo I.D., or utility bill.  No preregistration is necessary.
Participants will attend a 15 minute education session on how to plant and care for their new
trees before receiving up to two trees.  Trees may include Live Oak, Sand Live Oak, Southern Magnolia, Red Maple and Bald Cypress depending on availability, which is subject to change.
