On Saturday, January 12, 2013, Mr. Wilson held a meeting to cast the vision. He invited several local artists to share in the plan God gave him. “Look, I’m going to be real with you,” he said, “I don’t have any money to pay you.” He explained that the For God i Run Tour is a test of faith and a show of obedience. He referenced Luke 9:3 where Jesus told His disciples “Take nothing for the journey, neither staffs nor bag nor bread nor money; and do not have two tunics apiece.”
The For God i Run Tour is not seeking payment, but they will accept donations to help fund the free tour. The purpose of the tour is to draw people nearer to Christ and His church. In order to do that, you have to reach people where they are with a medium that moves them. The majority of the members of the For God i Run Tour are Christian rap artists. Their music is specifically designed to reach the youth of today’s society.
“The idea is to get outside of the church walls, and our own personal walls,” Mr. Wilson said. He said the church is lacking something, which is why it is not growing. He explained that too often people preach and hold concerts and revivals for people who are already in the church, but we are supposed to reach the lost. We have to get outside of and beyond the church.
Currently the For God i Run Tour has two stops: March 9, 2013 they will be at Love Covenant Church in Sumter, SC and on March 16, 2013 they will be at Inheritance Center in Savannah, GA. Other cities they will be visiting include Florence, SC; Charleston, SC; and Charlotte, NC.
