Individual and team runners for the Free to Breathe 5K have collected pledges to support lung cancer research. The event includes a two-mile walk as well.
Advance registrations are guaranteed commemorative event tee shirts. Tees may be offered to race-day entries, if supplies allow.
Awards will be presented to top finishers, both overall and in various age categories, as well as individual and team fundraisers. A silent auction will follow the race. Prizes include a yacht cruise for eight, offered by the Milwaukee Yacht Club.
Packet pickup is set for Friday, October 11, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Performance Running Outfitters, 4533 North Oakland Avenue, in Shorewood.
Race-day check-in opens at 7:30 a.m. on October 12. The warm-up and rally is set for 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 9 a.m. and the two-mile walk at 9:05 a.m. The Free to Breathe event takes place at Veterans Park, 1010 North Lincoln Memorial Drive, in Milwaukee.
