Why Elin Nordegren’s Decision May Be Premature

I know from the many female infidelity victims I’ve interviewed over the past 16 years, as well as from my own personal experience with infidelity, that the decision of whether to terminate the marriage, or stay with a cheating husband is not an easy one to make.

Many women spend weeks, months, or even years, agonizing over what to do. Women who make this life-changing decision on the spur of the moment, without taking everything into consideration, often regret the choice they’ve made.

That’s one reason why I think Elin Nordegren’s decision may be a bit premature. She’s still dealing with the shock, disbelief, anger, rage, hurt, humiliation and all the other raw emotions resulting from the highly public exposure of Tiger Woods’ multiple affairs. She also has to consider the very real possibility that if Tiger is truly a sex addict, there’s a medical reason for his behavior.

There’s no need for Elin Nordegren to make a hasty decision. She should take as much time as she feels is necessary to make an intelligent decision. At this point, she’s holding all the cards, and the ball is in her court.

No One-Size-Fits-All Solution

There is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to dealing with infidelity, because no two situations are exactly the same. Each woman has to examine her own circumstances, consider all the factors involved, and decide what’s in her (and her children’s) best interests to do.
