If you still haven't gotten your taxes done, you can still have them done absolutely FREE with H&R Block. The FREE edition makes it completely easy to complete your taxes and you can use H&R Block to search for deductions that you may not have known that you could be eligible for.
I like the H&R Block tax preparation service because you can either do your taxes yourself online (FREE), chat with a tax professional if you need a little extra help online from your computer, OR you can go into an H&R Block office and have them done. They have options for those who have simple data to fill out (seriously with the FREE edition if you only have w-2's to enter it can take you only 15 minutes to be done!) My taxes were a little complicated for this year, so I had a tax professional to help me out online through chat. It didn't cost much more AND there is an iPhone app that let me just take photos of my tax documents to submit in to H&R Block (H&R Block Live is what this service is called).
There are advertisements out from competitors that state that with H&R Block you are not dealing with tax professionals and merely dealing with people off of the street. This is simply NOT TRUE. The tax professionals that you use through H&R Block Live all have tax credentials (that you can see before you chat with the tax professional--you actually have your choice of who you use). The tax preparers in their store front locations are not all certified BUT when they have questions that they cannot answer then they do have tax professionals on call (and often a few in store) that they can get these questions answered by.
The second look feature through H&R Block is one that I also took advantage of this year because last year I thought that I overpaid for my taxes. They had me send in all of my info (which took a good 30 minutes taking photos of the documents and uploading to the iPhone app) and they were able to recalculate and look for additional deductions/credits that I may have missed. I qualified for a refund from the IRS and they even refiled it for me.
If you want to do your taxes for FREE, get assistance from real tax professionals, AND be assured that your taxes are being assessed for every benefit to YOU then H&R Block is the way to go this tax season.
