Free tastings and comedy night; newly released Beaujolais Nouveau

Haven’t yet found that perfect bottle to serve with Thanksgiving dinner? Or perhaps you need a bottle to come home to after elbowing and strong-arming for gaming consoles, digital cameras, and places in line on Black Friday. Or, more likely, you require a bottle to recover from Thanksgiving dinner with the family and to aide in falling asleep early so that you can make a valiant effort to wake up for Black Friday. In any event, Corkscrew Pointe is offering free wine tastings and events this weekend and next to make it easier for you to find the perfect bottle to enjoy, de-stress with, or accompany food.

On the river in downtown McHenry, Corkscrew Pointe is in your neighborhood and just about a mile or so from Walmart, JCPenney’s, Old Navy, and all your other stops on Route 31 this shopping season.

Today, the tasting is sponsored by Heritage Wine Cellars, Novovino, Imperial, and others. Stop in from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the tasting is sponsored by Lynfred Winery, Uncommon Grounds, and Stoller Wholesale, from 2:00 to 6:00 pm.

To shake off the shock of the arrival of the holiday season, attend their comedy night, next Friday night. Reservations required; two drink minimum (no problem!). There will be live music and comedy by The Edge Premier Comedy Group. Check out their site for more details and to call for reservations.

No time to sit & sip? The newly released Beaujolais Nouveau is at World Market for $9.99.  Always released on the third Thursday of November, this wine goes well with most holiday meals because it’s low in tannins and high in fruit intensity. World Market is great for one-stop shopping, so check out the rest of their fabulous wine selection and get some holiday gifts checked off your list too!
