Are you looking to add Spanish language lessons to your curriculum this year? Or do you want to add a foreign language to your school year without breaking the bank? Adding foreign language to your child's curriculum can prove invaluable especially when started early. Children as young as preschool can benefit from foreign language instruction. When done properly, free resources can be an educational and cost effective alternative to the high priced alternatives available on the market.

Home Education Resources has a large selection of Spanish printables. Many of these can be put on your school area walls for gentle Spanish lesson reminders while others can be used in your daily Spanish lessons.

Online Free Spanish provides free lessons, printables, activities, and online video dialogues.

The Teacher's Corner website includes a number of free Spanish crossword puzzles. These might be best used with older students who have a good grasp on writing and the language. You might also consider using these cross word puzzles as a reinforcement after a lesson. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find Spanish puzzles under the foreign language heading. This website also includes a free crossword maker option if the Spanish puzzles do not fit your needs.

Spanish Town is an education packed site with a ton of free Spanish lessons, resources, and printables. This site includes beginner and intermediate lessons as well as lessons specifically for grades 1 through 4.

abcteach has a wide variety of Spanish matching activities for free. Type in "Spanish" in the search box at the top of their home page. This search will result in a long list of resources that you can print for free.

Nourish Interactive provides numerous nutrition topic printables in Spanish. Look for the Spanish version notation at the end of their printables.

First School allows you to print free alphabet sheets and mini-books on their site.

Hoover Web Design allows your child to show off their new language with free Spanish greeting cards. You might consider having your child translate the card in their own handwriting when sending the card to a non-Spanish reader.

As with most other school subjects, if you look around the internet you can find plenty of free resources to help save you money. In the coming weeks, as many of you start back to your school year schedule I will write on additional free resources you can use in the coming school year.
