Valley Clean Air Now (CAN) and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District are sponsoring a free smog inspection and emissions test on Saturday, May 10th. The Tune in & Tune Up event will be held at the Kern County Fairgrounds in Bakersfield from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Should their vehicles fail the test, the first 525 participants are eligible for a $500 voucher good toward repairs at a participating repair facility. Additionally, owners may also be eligible for up to $1000 for the purchase of their vehicle, whether it passes the test or not. Although the event and emission screenings are free, no smog certificates will be issued for those vehicles that pass the test.

The inspections and funding are part of the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) Polluting Automobile Scrap & Salvage (PASS) program. The event is one of a series of similar events across the San Joaquin Valley throughout the year.
