Here is a fun and free pattern to make shorts for your kids this summer with large pockets and fun fabrics you can easily make these for girls and boys. The pattern is called Sycamore shorts and was created by Sew Like My Mom.
The creator said she came up with the shorts pattern for her kids when they wanted bigger pockets to keep their rocks, candy and other trinkets in their pockets during the summer. The shorts sew together easily and the pattern provides 9 different sizes beginning at 12 months and all the way up to size 8!
To get started with the pattern download the pattern pieces for free here. Select a fun fabric for the shorts and the pockets that kids will love wearing. The boys and girls pockets on the shorts are made the same except for the boys will have a straight edge instead of a curved edge.
You can easily cut the fabric for the shorts and assemble them together to make a pair for all of the kids. Make a whole bunch for them to wear all summer long and get creative using a variety of fabrics and pocket styles.
The large uniquely shaped pockets on these shorts are great for keeping childhood treasures safe. The most amazing thing about this pattern is that it is free to download and for such a great easy pattern to make you can’t go wrong downloading this one!
