Two remastered French classics will screen for free at the Col Coa, City of Lights, City of Angels, French Film Festival on Monday, afternoon, April 28, 2014. Both of them will run twice, with English subtitles. Reservations are not accepted, so just show up at the Directors Guild (DGA), located at 7920 Sunset Boulevard, at the appropriate time.
In homage to Patrice Chereau who passed away in October last year, his best known film, Queen Margot (La Reine Margot), which has been gloriously restored, will run at 2 p.m. and 4:40 p.m. in the larger Renoir Theater. This colorful, 162-minute historical drama, stars Isabelle Adjani in the title role. Pique your interest with the trailer here.
The Murderer Lives at Number 21 (L'Assassin haite au 21), a remastered 84-minute black and white mystery from the French grandmaster of suspense, Henri-Georges Clouzot, runs at 3:30 p.m. and again at 4:55 p.m. in the smaller Truffaut Theater. View a clip here.
