FREE screening of classic film 'Au Revoir Les Enfants'

The Tattered Cover Colfax brings us a monthly classic film series, each followed by an interactive discussion with Colorado Public Radio’s Howie Movshovitz, who also happens to be the Director of Education for the Denver Film Society.

Tickets are available one hour before showtime, but be sure to get there early as they are first come, first served. Although the films are free, a donation of $1 is suggested. Let’s be honest, you can’t get a screening and discussion for that price, even if you went to Red Box.

Films are shown once a month at the Lowenstein CulturePlex (aka Denver Film Center), next to the Tattered Cover on E Colfax Ave in Denver. For questions, call 720-381-0813.

On February 5th, the film will be Au Revoir Les Enfants (1987), from Writer/Director Louis Malle and starring Gaspard Manesse, Raphael Fejto, and Francine Racette.

Nominated for two Oscars including Best Foreign Language Film and Best Writing, Written directly for the screen, Au Revoir Les Enfants is an autobiographical tale about a real event during Louis Malle’s childhood, during the Nazi occupation of France in World War II, which took over forty years to make.

According to IMDB.com, before becoming a famous movie-director, Quentin Tarantino worked in a video store, where he referred to this movie as "the reservoir film", because he couldn't pronounce the title. He combined this with Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs to produce the title Reservoir Dogs.

The Tattered Cover Film Series is presented by UCD’s College of Arts & Media, Colorado Public Radio, and the Denver FilmCenter.
