"New Explorations and Discoveries in Brazil" will be the topic of the May 18th program of the Seminole Bromeliad and Tropical Plant Society. This fascinating program will be an overview of Dennis Cathcart's 2014 Brazil Expedition.
Mr. Cathcart has been exploring the Caribbean, Latin America and Mexico for more than 40 years, after becoming interested in bromeliads on a herpetology trip in 1968. He is well known for his "Cargo Report" and the interesting stories he shares about his plant collecting trips into these countries. Dennis is an excellent story teller and this is sure to be an entertaining and informative program.
Dennis and his wife Linda own Tropiflora Nursery in Sarasota, Florida. Tropiflora was established in 1976 and has grown to be one of the largest bromeliad nurseries in the world. It currently consists of 6 acres of greenhouse space as well as additional outdoor growing areas.
In addition to presenting the program, Dennis will be bringing plants to sell and raffle so this is a good chance for you to add something new or unusual to your collection.
The program takes place on Sunday May 18, 2014 at the Garden Club of Sanford, 200 Fairmont Dr. Sanford, FL starting at 2 PM. The event is free and open to the public.
