The Flaming Lips will perform at this year's Houston Free Press Fest : Morgan Tepsic

Now for the highly anticipated indie music event of the year: Houston’s second annual Free Press Summer Fest!

Thanks to Omar Afra at Free Press Houston, we will once again witness an amazing gathering of musicians ranging from internationally known to locally celebrated at Eleanor Tinsley Park this Saturday and Sunday.

After last year’s fantastically freaky event with of Montreal, Explosions in the Sky and Broken Social Scene, many of us wondered how the 2010 lineup could possibly compare—and we were answered with THE FLAMING LIPS.

As if that wasn’t worth the price of admission alone, this year will also feature Sugar and Gold, Ra Ra Riot, Lymbyc Systym, Medeski Martin and Wood, Girl Talk, and Stars (whose members are also part of Broken Social Scene). The local lineup is also incredible, including Ghost Mountain, Somosuno, Black Congress, Female Demand, and many, many others. Local artisan booths will be present; as well as cooling tents, beer, and food. All of this fun can be had at the ridiculously fair price of $35 now or $40 at the door for the whole weekend. The intensely hot action won't just be coming from the sun—so prepare yourselves for the heat!
