Tradition calls for dancing around the Maypole. In 2014, pole dancing has an altogether different meaning. Capitalizing on the month and the popularity of poles, Athleta in The Grove is offering a variety of free workouts in May: yoga and pole, chakra, and hip hop.
On Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., Meg is leading a class centered around chakras. There are 7 major centers of energy in the body, known as chakras: the root at the base of the spine, the sacral in the lower abdomen, the solar plexus in the upper abdomen, the heart, the throat, the third eye on the forehead between the eyes, and the crown at the top of the head. Discover how to let your energy flow through these points. Another class will be held on May 18, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Beginning Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Shannon is leading a yoga and pole class. This interesting combination is also scheduled for May 17th, May 24th, and May 31st.
Hopping around the schedule is a hip hop dance class taught by Meg on Sunday, May 11, 2014 and Sunday, May 25, 2014 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
