Free People, a womenswear fashion brand, unveiled their new FP Movement collection on May 1, at their wholesale showroom located at 218 West 40 street in New York City. The new line is Free Peoples expansion of yoga wear, and the addition of two lifestyle categories; ballet and surfing. All three categories are unified under the idea of incorporating dress with freedom and movement.
Attractive young women who actually surf, dance ballet and practice yoga were used to launch the new collection. Two models wore swimwear and held surf boards to model the surf wear. Along with clothes, FP Movement will also be selling surf board bags, and a selection of one-of-a-kind hand painted surf boards, each retailing approximately $4,000.00. Three actual ballerinas danced and modeled some pieces from the FP Movement ballet collection. It includes unitards, sports bras, and traditional sleeved wrap tops. There is also a collection of vintage apparel that includes tutus, hand-painted pointe shoes and shrugs.
The display for their yoga collection was the most impressive part of the presentation. Four members from an acrobatic yoga group from Philadelphia performed various acrobatic yoga positions, dressed in FP Movement yoga outfits. The collection includes cropped leggings, hot yoga shorts, strappy bras and tank tops. The company offers Jade Yoga® yoga mats and stainless steel water bottles from Klean Kanteen® that feature etched artwork from in-house Free People artists.
The already delightful event took another fun, creative turn when the yoga models paired with the ballet models, and performed various acro yoga positions. The match showcased the ballerinas balance, grace, and beauty; and the yogi's strength, poise and focus. The new collection officially launches on May 12, with new collections delivered bi-monthly.
