New year, new party! Kick off 2014 with a free extravaganza in Grand Park on New Year's Eve from 6 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. New Year's Day. Performances, art installations, live music and large-scale animated projections will help ring in a creative 2014. Family, friends and fellow Angeleno lovers are all welcome.
Throughout the evening, 3-D projections will cover the 22-floor City Hall building. Take advantage of the photo booth - create a memory and share your wish for the New Year 100 feet above Grand Park. Join the L.A. tribe with Tribal Markers beautiful body art. Stimulate your senses with art installations by Charles Baker, Geoff McFetridge and Mike Murphy. Azul 213* Amaral / Sisanie (from KIIS – FM) are hosting this massive event.
DJ Seano starts spinning at 6 p.m. Vocal duo Myron & E (Stone's Throw Records) sing for about an hour, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Versa-Style Dance Company share their hip hop moves at 8:30 p.m. Used to hitting the hay early? Count down with the East Coast's live feed of the Times Square Ball Drop just before 9 p.m.
After ringing in the East Coast New Year, the Versa-Style Dance Company returns to the stage for 20 minutes. Buyepongo play live from 9:30 - 10 p.m. Daedelus rolls in at 10 p.m., and Fool's Gold close out the night 'til the big moment.
Drinks are available at a cash bar, or bring your own non-alcoholic beverages. as long as they aren't in glass containers. Hungry? Pack a picnic or patronize a variety of food trucks: Street Kitchen, The Lobos Truck, Schmuck Truck, No Jodas Kitchen, Hurricane Kitchen, Mangia Ristorante on Wheels, India Jones, Grilled Cheese Truck, The Surfer Taco, Crepe’n Around, Berlin Famous Sausage, Kabob Express, Firehouse Chefs, Cousins Maine Lobster, Paradise Cookies and Ice Cream, Ela Brew, Sweet E’s Bake Shop.
Due to the size of this event, parking could be a challenge. Plus, street closures will be in effect on December 30, 2013, beginning at 6 a.m. for Spring Street between First and Temple, and 7 p.m. for Hill and Broadway between First and Temple. Streets will re-open at 5 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Save yourself the hassle by taking public transportation. Besides, all Metro bus and rail lines will provide free service on New Year’s Eve beginning at 9 p.m.
