Free iPad, iPhone and iPod touch apps for gamers and music lovers worth downloading today include “Angry Birds Stella” and “Rdio”, according to a September 4 report in Apple Insider. The free iPad, iPhone and iPod touch app “Angry Birds Stella” stars a female hero and the free app “Rdio” is a major update.

In “Angry Birds Stella," Stella leads a flock of birds to defend Golden Island from a pig invasion lead by Gale, the greedy Bad Princess who is destroying their sanctuary. In this app of lush graphics and 120 levels there are items to collect, outfits to select and lots of action.

With the streaming music app world heating up, “Rdio” is launching a new emphasis on stations to stay competitive. These stations are either curated-based or based on genre. Unlike “Beats Music," “Rdio” offers curated-based stations to fit your mood for free. Unless users have carrier plans with unlimited data, users should listen to streaming music over Wi-Fi to avoid huge carrier bills.

Both of these free iPad, iPhone and iPod touch apps require iOS 6.0 and are iPhone 5 optimized. The current Apple operating system for mobile devices is iOS 7.

The closer September 9 gets, the more leaks appear about the “iWatch." New leaks published in the “New York Times” describe the “iWatch” as coming in two sizes (probably one for men and another for women), sporting a flexible display of data like maps and packed with health sensors. These sensors measure vital signs and workout stats and are integrated with the “Health” app in iOS 8.

The “iWatch is supposed to use wireless charging, presumably because the thinness of the watch precludes any other means of charging it. Also, the “iWatch” will include Near Field Communications so users can use their “iWatch” for making mobile payments. NFC will be included in iPhone 6 too.
