Free movies at the Third Weekend of the SBIFF

Feb 7, 2011 -  The official eleven days of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) are over.  However, it is its tradition to hold a “Third Weekend” in which the best of the festival is offered to the public free of charge. 

This year’s “Third Weekend” begins Friday February 11 at the Riviera Theatre.  The movies will welcome the public on a first come - first serve basis, as follows:

Friday February 11

7:00 pm                       Face To Face  (see picture slideshow attached)
Winner, Best Independent Feature
                                    Directed by Michael Rymer
A group of Australians from diverse backgrounds gather to decide the fate of a violent young man. An Australian '12 Angry Men', only there's 10, including 4 women.

9:30 pm                       Angels & Airwaves Presents “Love”
Directed by William Eubank
An astronaut on the International Space Station loses contact with earth and becomes stranded in space for 7 years.
 
Saturday February 12

Winner Fund for Santa Barbara Social Justice Award

Everyone's favorite teacher, Mr. Simon (Ed Harris), pairs Andy with the school's biggest outcast and social pariah, Stanley, aka "Big G" (Alexander Walters) on a critical term project. Before long, Andy will learn that there was truly a method behind Mr. Simon's madness as to why he teamed these two up.
