The Free Movies After Dark series will launch on Friday, July 27, 2012. Each Friday night a Hartford park will host a showing of a totally free movie to the public. In addition to the free movie there will be fun events and contests related to the film of the night. Free popcorn is provided by Spotlight Cinemas. Spotlight Cinemas is a theater set to open in September on Front Street. Get to the park early to get a good spot. Bring a blanket, chairs and I personally recommend bug spray! The movies will start at sunset. Until then, enjoy the pre-show entertainment which begins around 7:00 p.m.

August 24, 2012: "Singin' In the Rain" at Elizabeth Park. Watch a 'giant puppet' show by Connecticut puppetter Anne Cubberly. A professional photographer will be on hand with a backdrop of the lamppost scene. You can imitate the Gene Kelly pose and get a picture. Get there early because the first 50 people to show up get a free umbrella.

September 7, 2012: "Rising Star" will be shown at Bushnell Park. Klokwize, a hip-hot artist, will perform live.
