When was the last time you experienced luxury for free? If you are an individual that enjoys affordable movies and cocktails in the heart of downtown Portland, you can be sure that Hotel deLuxe is willing to cater to your cheaper side. Every month, there will be a new movie selection in the hotel's very own private screening room and admission is absolutely free!
The hotel’s decadent screening room has a lovely 'film noir' feel to it with its gold accent and chandeliers, and the sixteen foot movie screen is just as impressive. The first screening will be tonight at 6:00 pm and will feature the 1968 cult comedy, The Party, starring Peter Sellers, and Claudine Longet. This movie allows a wonderful look into the 60’s party scene, complete with a baby elephant, foamy pools, and music by Henry Mancini.
To complement the theme of the movie, the Driftwood Room selected a fine cocktail made from Eastside Distilling’s Potato Vodka and Bombay Sapphire gin, called the Vesper martini. Normally an eleven dollar treat, the Vesper will be available for seven dollars during the movie. You can be sure that wine, craft beer, non-alcoholic beverages, and snacks will be available as well, and at happy hour prices!
The screening room can fit 36 people so arriving early (doors open at 5:30 pm) will help you find a good seat. You can stay up-to-date on future movie screenings by visiting the Pop-Up Cinema site.
Hotel deLuxe is located in downtown Portland at 729 SW 15th Ave, right on the MAX line.
