Free Lunar New Year Festival

Uneventful New Year? Here's your opportunity to do it over! Celebrate the Year of the Horse at the fourth annual Lunar New Year Festival on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the USC Pacific Asia Museum. Bring the family. It's free!

Performances kick off at 11 a.m. with a Lion Dance by the Northern Shaolim Kung Fu Association.
PUSD's Field Elementary Mandarin Immersion students take over at 11:15 a.m. The Zhejiang Song and Dance Theatre Company hit the stage at noon. Check out the Acrobatic Balancing by Shasha Luo at 1:30 p.m. The Lac Hong Performing Arts Group showcases a traditional Vietnamese dance at 2 p.m. Taiko Center of L.A. starts drumming at 2:30 p.m. Watch a traditional Korean Folk Dance by the Jung Im Lee Korean Dance Academy at 3 p.m. Or, see the Xplore TKD Demo Team demonstrate Taekwondo at 3:30 p.m.

Inside the museum are craft activities and flower arranging demonstrations (12:30 and 3 p.m.). Meet at the front desk at 1 p.m. for a docent tour of the museum. Current exhibitions include Ralli Quilts: Contemporary Textiles from Pakistan and Focus on the Subject: The Art of the Harari Collection. At the bookstore, artist Jennifer Wood will be signing her children's book, The Year of the Horse, from 3 - 5 p.m.
