Presented by Southern University at New Orleans Center for African American Studies and the Louisiana Public History Forum (LPHF), this is the first in a series of public programs designed by LPHF to educate the public about era of Reconstruction.

The period of Reconstruction in Louisiana began immediately following Emancipation in 1865 and ended with the last Black Louisiana legislator holding office in 1895.

The Louisiana Reconstruction Conference intends to dispel the myths surrounding this thirty-year era and highlight the advancements of people of African descent during this time.

There will be featured speakers, panel sessions, and more - this event is free and open to the public.
