Kemah will be hosting two family-friendly Mardi Gras events on March 1 that are free and open to the public. The theme for this year’s Mardi Gras is Captain Hook and Peter Pan.
The first event of the day is the 13th Annual Krewe du Lac Mardi Gras Street Parade at 11 a.m. The parade will include both floats and decorated vehicles, and there will be beads thrown to the watching and waiting crowd. The parade will be in the Lighthouse District. Be sure to arrive early to find parking and a spot from which to watch the parade.
The second event of the day is the Yachty Gras Boat Parade at 7 p.m. The Boardwalk will be the place to be. The boats will go down the Clear Creek Channel by the boardwalk, and those in attendance will be showered in beads and doubloons.
There is no reservation necessary nor any cost for those wishing to watch either event.
