There are some special events coming up at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth. If you have not had the opportunity to check out the current exhibition of Samurai: Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection this is the perfect time to do so.
Matsuri! A Samuri Celebration

Kimbell Art Museum presents: Matsuri! the Japanese word for “Festival” is taking place this weekend. There are numerous activities including film screenings, musical performances and demos all day long. Food trucks will be onsite food purchases. No outside food or drinks will be allowed. You are encouraged to bring your blanket to sit on as you watch the dance, music and martial art demonstrations.
The event will begin with a traditional procession of the mikosh shrine, including performance by the Dondoko Taiko Drummers. In conjunction with the event free admission to the exhibit Samurai: Armor from the Ann and Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection. Several stages will be set up for a variety of performances. In addition to the performances there will be a plethora of activities for both children and adults alike. Some of these activities will require a free ticket. Check the schedule for more details on where to obtain these tickets. No Japanese festival would be complete without Anime short films or a full length Japanese movie. Featured film screening will be Kagemusha. Best of all it is FREE!
