A free iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch security update is now available. This update fixes an issue with how your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch verifies an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection, according to a Feb. 21 report in MacRumors. SSL is the technology that creates an encrypted link between a browser, like “Safari”, and a web server, so your communications between them are private.

This new update is iOS 7.0.6 and it's available for iPhone 4+, iPad 2+ (including both versions of the iPad mini) and iPod Touch (5G). To download this free iOS 7 update, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Download and Install.

Apple also released another free update today (iOS 6.1.6) for those using iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch (4G) which includes iOS 6 bug fixes.

You can now get live horse racing feeds from 45 tracks in the United States, plus international events like the upcoming Dubai World Cup Carnival, handicapping tools, replays and current news about the Sport of Kings on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch in the free app, “Horse Races Now”.

“NBC Sports Live Extra” continues to be the most popular free app downloaded today. With this free app you can watch every event during the 2014 Winter Olympics, live and free. After the Olympics are over, you can use this free app to watch live sporting events that NBC, NBCSN and Golf Channel broadcasts.

In related news, the man who introduced the world to the iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, iTunes, the App Store, and so many other revolutionary products is being honored with a commemorative postage stamp by the United States Postal Service. Yes, the stoic institution that's being disrupted by email, online banking, e-Filing and more, is paying tribute to Steve Jobs, the man who disrupted so many industries (music, phones and publishing to name a few). If the post office survives its declining mail volumes and revenue, the Steve Jobs stamp will be available in 2015, along with those of classic rockers John Lennon and Janis Joplin.

“Horse Races Now” requires iOS 5.0+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is optimized for iPhone 5. This free app is available for download in the iPhone section of the App Store.

“NBC Sports Live Extra” requires iOS 6.0+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is optimized for iPhone 5.
