Free iPhone apps hot today as 'Flappy Bird' is to be taken down

The free iPhone apps (compatible with iPad, and iPod Touch) hot today comes with news that the iPhone app “Flappy Bird” will be removed from the App Store and Google Play by its creator today, according to a Feb. 9 report in “The Telegraph”.

In a shocking move, the creator of “Flappy Bird” has announced via Twitter that he will remove “Flappy Bird” from both the App Store and Google Play. The reason seems to be that he's uncomfortable with the publicity that “Flappy Bird” is getting. Humm. “Flappy Bird” just hit the top of the charts in the App Store with 50 million downloads and is reportedly bringing in $50,000 a day in advertising revenue.

Hot today is “Modern Command”, a free awesome tower defense game that's lots of fun. What makes this TD game so different is that you can direct a tower's fire—which adds a new tactical skill to the mix. You can also add to your arsenal by unlocking powerful weapons.

Also running red hot today is “Rails”, a $2.99 app that's free today. This is a cool remake of the 90's blockbuster game. Here you lay track, build stations, control the switches and manage a railroad to make money. There are 12 different trains with different challenges and capabilities, 60 levels and 30 achievements. This free app is for iPad only.

Super-hot in downloads today too is “Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop”, (Reg. $2.99), free in a big app deal. This super-awesome app lets you access your PC or Mac on your local network with top-of-the-line video streaming performance. With this app you can do on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch everything that you could do on your PC or Mac: view and edit Microsoft Office files, play PC or Mac games, even surf the web using your computer's browser!

Growing in downloads today is “Flower Garden – Grow Flowers”, a free app today that puts a virtual garden on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. In this app you plant seeds, care for them, watch them grow into flowers and develop into a garden. You can harvest some of the flowers and put them into bouquets that you can share with family and friends.

“Flappy Bird” requires iOS 6.0+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is optimized for iPhone 5.

“Modern Command” is rated 12+ for violence, references to alcohol, tobacco and drug use and is supports Game Center. This free app is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is and is optimized for iPhone 5.

“Rails” requires iOS 3.2+ and is compatible with iPad.

“Splashtop 2 Remote Desktop for iPhone & iPod - Personal” requires iOS 5.0+, is optimized for iPhone 5 and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This app can be downloaded for free from the iPhone-only section of the App Store.

“Flower Garden – Grow Flowers and Send Bouquets” supports Game Center and requires iOS 5.0+. This free app is optimized for iPhone 5 and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
