Free iPhone apps for iPad, iPod Touch worth downloading today

These free iPhone apps, compatible with iPad and iPod Touch, come as news emerges that Apple will launch an iPhone with a larger screen in May, according to a Dec. 24 report in “The Times of India”.

It has long been rumored that Apple was working on developing an iPhone with a larger screen because there is a huge market for larger-screen phones. But now a new article in “The Times of India” reports that the Chinese website, Digitimes—which has a accurate record of reporting Apple news first—says that a larger iPhone is coming this May, with perhaps a 4.7” screen. Larger screen phones are particularly popular with woman who can conveniently toss them in their handbags.

Running super-hot today in downloads is the free app, “Snoopy's Candy Town”. In this free iPhone app (also compatible with iPad and iPod Touch) you help Snoopy, Belle and Woodstock manage a candy factory. As Snoopy's factory makes sales, you help him invest in better equipment and more bird workers. You also help Charlie Brown and his friends rebuilt the adjacent town. If Charlie Brown does a good job, he has a chance to become the class president.

Trending hot today too in popularity is “Musebox”. Regularly $1.99, this app is free today. This app offers free music streaming radio. Yes, there's Pandora and iTunes Radio but what makes “Musebox” different is that you don't have to search for the music you want to listen to. Just select the genre and listen.

“12 Day of Gifts” is still running hot. This free Apple App celebrates the holidays by giving you a free gift every day, from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6 (know as “Little Christmas”). Free gifts can range from songs and apps to movies and iBooks.

Also trending popular today is “Can You Escape 2” a free app filled with escape challenges. Here you use hidden objects to find ways to escape from rooms. The puzzles grow more challenging as you level up.

“Rapunzel 3D” is breaking hot in downloads too. This interactive storybook has three possible endings, three different music tracks and loads of interactive features. This is a nice way to for a parent to introduce a child to the fun of reading.

“Battle Bears Gold” (Reg. $2.99) is free today and trending popular. This free app is a third-person mulitplayer shooter with ten levels and festive Christmas skins. There's lots of action here with new maps, the ability to change characters during battles, lots of weapons, and an option for private matches with friends in Game Center.

“Snoopy's Candy Town” is rated 9+ for cartoon violence and is compatible with iPhone 4+, iPad 2+, iPad mini+, iPod Touch (4GS+) and is optimized for iPhone 5.

“Musebox” requires iOS 4.3+ and is enabled for Air Play. This free app is optimized for iPhone 5 and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

“12 Day of Gifts” is rated 12+ for mature themes, crude humor, horror themes, drug references, sexual content and fantasy violence. This free app requires iOS 7.0+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is optimized for iPhone 5.

“Can You Escape 2” requires iOS 4.3+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and is optimized for iPhone 5.

“Rapunzel 3D” requires iOS 3.2+ and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

“Battle Bears Gold” is rated 9+ for violence and crude humor and requires iOS 6.0+, is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. This free app is optimized for iPhone 5 too.
