Free iPad, iPhone apps for today as Apple launches WWDC schedule

The awesome sci-fi thriller app “Edge of Tomorrow” is free for downloading to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch now. “Edge of Tomorrow” is high-octane first-person shooter game filled with combat from the moment play begins. Play starts with you and your comrades trying to establish a beachhead in an invasion against an alien stronghold. Besides playing this free game app solo, you can choose multiplayer mode.

Super-hot in downloads too is Disney's “Maleficent Free Fall." This iPad, iPhone app, is full of challenges as you match gemstones and experience Maleficent's thirst for revenge. This three match puzzle adventure game lets you unlock Maleficent's raven as well as other characters and discover new story and surprises. This free app is compatible with iPod touch too.

WWDC 2014 starts in about 12 days. WWDC 2014 is the mecca for Apple engineers, fans, bloggers, reporters and everyone else who follows Apple products like iPhone and iPad with great interest.

It is at the WWDC 2014 keynote on June 2 where Apple plans on revealing the new capabilities of iOS 8, the new operating system for iPhone 6, iPad Air 2 and the next iPad mini version (if there is one). iOS 8 will undoubtedly be free to download to iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s (and maybe iPhone 4s) plus many of the predecessors to iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display.
