March 8-9: Mansfield Historical Museum and Heritage Center, open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesdays-Saturdays. In addition to providing exhibits, museum staff and volunteers can help patrons with genealogy. March 8-9: Military Museum of Fort Worth, open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, 712 Dorothy Lane, Fort Worth, 76107. Admission is free. Closed major holidays. The museum focus is the military as it pertains to Texas veterans. The museum presents military artifacts and the stories about them in order to educate the public. March 8-9: Texas Civil War Museum is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, 760 Jim Wright Freeway North, Fort Worth, 76108. Adult admission is $6, students ages 7-12 are $3 and children 6 and under are free with adult admission. This is the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi. March 9: Visit Heritage Park, 201 Cullum Drive in Euless. Free tours second Saturday of every month from 1-5 p.m. Group tours can be scheduled on a different day depending on staff availability. Tour the Fuller House, the first brick home in Euless which is now a museum; the Himes Log House, built in the 1850s; and the McCormick Barn, built in 1919. March 9: HOGAR general meeting, The Hispanic Organization for Genealogy and Research of Dallas (HOGAR de Dallas) will meet 2 p.m. at the Dallas Public Library Lochwood Branch, 1121 Lochwood Blvd. Dallas, Texas 75218. The public is invited. The program will be a presentation on the website, "Family Search" and the new "Family Tree."
Through April 30, 2013: HOGAR de Dallas, a Spanish genealogical organization, will award one scholarship of $1,000 to a high school graduating senior who submits a pedigree chart and essay that follows the assigned criteria. Essay will be published in HOGAR journal.
