Jackson-Hewitt will provide free preparation of the 1040EZ form during the tax season at about 2,800 Wal-Mart stores.H&R Block has kiosksin approximately 250 Walmart stores nationwide.
If you are due a refund, you can choose to get your refund by direct deposit, check or debit card. H&R Block, Jackson-Hewitt and Walmart all offer pre-paid debit cards for your refund, but Wal-Mart does not charge fees if you have more than $1,000 loaded on the card in a single month.
Walmart also offers check cashing if you choose to go the traditional route and get a paper check from the IRS. Pay $3 for up to a $1,000 check or $6 for refund checks that are between $1,000 and $7,500. If you live here in RI, the check cashing service is not available.
