I just dropped 3 figures at Target. So it is comforting to me to see that at least some small portion of the proceeds goes toward worthy causes like this Target Free weekend at Wave Hill.
The Riverdale area of the Bronx is the home to a really lovely 28-acre garden overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. Normal admission charge is $8 per adult, and there is an $8 charge for parking onsite, though there is a free parking available offsite and free shuttle service to the garden. Admission to the grounds is free this weekend, April 6 to April 7 from 10 to 4, courtesy of Target. :
From 10AM to 1PM, join Family Art Project guest artist Ander Mikalson to create a line of drawings on the lower lawn, listen to stories about drawing. From noon to 2PM, participate in a collaborative project with exhibiting artists from Drawn to Nature. Paper and tools provided.
Garden Highlights Walk, Sunday, Apr 07 - 2:00PM Meet at Perkins Visitor Center for an hour-long tour of seasonal garden highlights.

For those planning a wedding, you can look into Wave Hill for the a photographic backdrop. Unfortunately, there is only one caterer who has the exclusive rights, so certified kosher affairs would be out, but you can consider pictures in that setting with historical significance. See http://www.wavehill.org/weddings-conferences/: "Built in 1843 in the style of an English country residence, Wave Hill House, a former estate house on Wave Hill’s 28 acres, has been home to such luminaries as Mark Twain, Theodore Roosevelt, Arturo Toscanini and two British ambassadors to the United Nations"
Wave Hill is located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue (main entrance)675 West 252nd Street (mailing address) Bronx, NY 10471-2899
Telephone: 718.549.3200
A free Wave Hill shuttle meets northbound trains at 9:45am, 10:45am, 11:45am, 12:45pm, 1:45pm, 2:45pm and 3:45pm. (Southbound passengers may wish to wait a few minutes to meet the free shuttle.) Return shuttles for southbound trains leave Wave Hill’s front gate at 20 minutes past the hour, from 12:20pm through 5:20pm. (Northbound passengers may ride the shuttle van and wait a few extra minutes for the next northbound train.)
