In today’s economy of rising costs and falling pay it is tough to take the family out and enjoy an evening. Add to that family foster children with very little monetary compensation and going out is a thing of the past.
With that in mind I have put together a little list of fun free things the whole family can enjoy in our area, starting with places that offer free or discounted meals for children. Check this list from about.com . Also, in case you didn't know, if your child gets Mac and Cheese or Spaghetti off the kids menu at Red Robin they get free refills!  They also offer free french fry refils for any age!

Before or after you eat you can also enjoy all kinds of free concerts around town. Bridge Street Town Centre, Big Spring Park, Madison Downtown Gazebo, Huntsville Public library all offer free concerts all summer long, and these are just a few!

Several places also offer free or discounted movies for families. Places like Monaco Theatres, The Rave, Madison square 1-9, and Regal Hollywood 18.

Bridge Street Town Center also offers water play for the little ones.  Water jets shooting out of the ground for your little water bug to romp and play in is always a good time and Big Spring park offers a great oppurtunity to feed the ducks and fish.
You can find an even longer list of free stuff here, so don’t let the heat or your wallet hinder you summer fun!

And don’t forget, a good old fashioned hose pipe always makes for a fun day with the kiddos too! Have a safe and happy summer.
