Free Fortnightly Music Club concert this weekend

Don’t miss the first free Fortnightly Music Club concert of 2013, this Sunday, Jan. 13th, at 7:00 pm. Through May, the Fortnightly Music Club will be holding a free classical music concert on the second Sunday of each month at the Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto.

This month’s concert theme is: Metamorphosis: Music of Change. Performances at this Sunday’s concert will include a string quartet performing Beethoven, a piano performance of Gershwin preludes, and a violin and cello sonata by Ravel. See here for the complete list of January’s performances.

The Fortnightly Music Club was formed over 100 years ago, by a group of Stanford faculty wives hoping to bring more and varied classical music performances to the local area. Over the years, the Club has grown to several hundred members and is comprised of amateur and professional musicians, and classical music enthusiasts. In addition to their montly open-to-the-public formal concerts, they also hold members-only in-home, informal concerts. For those interested in getting more involved or joining the Fortnightly Music Club, see their website, or inquire about membership at one of the formal concerts.
