Slug-fest breaks out at Food Stamp office

"One of those involved apparently wanted to use a pair of scissors..."

What began as a disagreement concerning someone's place in line, erupted into a full-blown street fight in an Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS) office in East St. Louis, Illinois as reported CBS Chicago on Jan.24, 2013.

As seen on amateur cell phone video, the donnybrook at the Food Stamp office showed at least four women wrestling and punching each other.

While two uniformed security officers attempted to maintain order, the video shows two women shoving and pushing each other while a third individual punches one of them on the back of the head.

Within moments after the tussle seemed to calm down, an unidentified woman rushes across the waiting room and punches a fourth person squarely in the face.

As reported by Fox affiliate KTVI of St. Louis, Missouri, one witness to the fight, Detria Graves stated:

"It`s just been cool, everybody standing in line, doing what they do.

Trying to get they stamps, trying to get, you know, whatever they trying to get.

It`s never been like this in there."

KTVI reported that there were no injuries, nor were there any arrests.

However, East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks said it could have been worse:

"One of those involved apparently wanted to use a pair of scissors at the scene as a weapon; security guards prevented that."

The mayor went on to state the police would review the video, and hopefully track down the people involved.
