Free flipped classroom training offered online (Video)

Dr. Lodge McCammon and Katie Gimbar will be facilitating a free, online course designed to assist teachers in understanding and applying the concepts of flipped classroom instruction. Supported by SAS for Education and the Friday Institute, the course will give teachers an opportunity to work on videos they will actually use in their own class once the course has finished.

Flipped classroom instruction has gained momentum in the last two years as an alternative to traditional teaching methods. The model includes removing lecture, or direct instruction, from the time spent in class and turns it into homework in the form of watching videos. This allows for more in-class time to be spent on collaborative enrichment activities.

The course application period is open until January 6. The course will run January 12 through February 17. For more information, visit the Flipped Classroom Training Program website.
