Free event for families affected by childhood cancer: "Heroes and Halos" is September 11, 2010
In honor of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, kids and families affected by childhood cancer are invited to a free event in Linwood, Kansas, on Saturday, September 11th, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Heroes and Halos is a special day of family fun at Fall Leaf Farm, located between Kansas City and Lawrence. Participants will honor our young heroes who have battled cancer, and families who have lost children to cancer will have an opportunity to memorialize their precious angels.
Fun, free activities at this year's Heroes and Halos event will include: live music, fishing (bring your own gear), paddle boats, pony rides, wagon rides, carnival games, face painting, children's crafts, fire engine, police car, and more. Free lunch will be provided, and each child will receive a gift. A special ceremony will recognize childhood cancer heroes and angels.
Help spread the word about this year's Heroes and Halos event in the Kansas City and Lawrence area. Childhood cancer patients, survivors, and their families; pediatric oncology medical professionals; volunteers for childhood cancer organizations; and supporters of childhood cancer awareness are all welcome at Heroes and Halos. If you plan to attend, please RSVP: call (785) 893-1108 or e-mail heroeshalos@gmail.com.
Fall Leaf Farm is a beautiful 40-acre farm located at 22652 Alexander Road in Linwood, Kansas. It is easily accessible from K-10 Highway or I-70. Go here for directions.
As the mother of a child in cancer treatment, this cause is very dear to my heart. I'd like to personally thank Ken and Marilyn Waldock—the owners of Fall Leaf Farm—and all of the generous businesses and organizations supporting Heroes and Halos and publicizing National Childhood Cancer Awareness Day.
Raise awareness, have fun, and celebrate the lives of childhood cancer heroes and angels this September!
